This looks like it's trying to do regmap_raw_read()? Raw I/O bypasses
all the endianness conversions.

I'd really not expect new drivers to need to have a set_clkdiv()
operation. Most things should just be worked out by the driver, that
means less duplicated code in machine drivers and that things like
simple-card have more chance of working for a device. This one I'm not
really sure what the divider is so it's hard to make specific
recommendations.

This is obviously not good since it means that we just ignore anything
that's set - if the caller is trying to set a divider we shouldn't just
be silently discarding what they set. It looks like this can just be
removed since the driver is able to calcuate

If this is really needed by anything the set_bclk_ratio() call is more
appropriate.

Remove empty functions, if they can reasonably be empty then the
framework will handle them being missing.

Move this data into the component driver please.

We also try regmap_raw_read() but it fails because the value width
is 9 bits. Therefor, we make the functions by ourselves.

I agree to remove the function. The clock divider has done by PLL
function if the clock source through PLL.

Yes, it's able to calculate and remove it.

I can study it. The function is used seldom and maybe I won't
provide the function.

I don't understand about it clearly. Is the snd_soc_codec_driver
not component driver? Could you tell me more details? Thank you.

You're not open coding this, this is using regmap!

You need to set these values in the actual component driver struct, not
directly in the CODEC driver. Look at the series of changes
Morimoto-san made recently for this.

Yes, the regmap raw read will use regmap finally. But it needs
format_val to make the value and it is not registered because
no such value width, 9 bits. The system will crash if the driver
uses regmap_raw_read with 9 bits value.

Thank you for the guide. I find the component driver as the
following. I'll change it.
+    .component_driver = {

The whole point with raw read is that it isn't reformatting the value.

I post the partial function. The format_val is not valid for our
codec driver and we can't use the regmap_raw_read(). It's the reason
that we need to make the function like regmap_raw_read().

int regmap_raw_read(struct regmap *map, unsigned int reg, ... )
{
    ...
    if (regmap_volatile_range(map, reg, val_count) ... ) {
        ...
    } else {
        /* Otherwise go word by word for the cache; should be low
         * cost as we expect to hit the cache.
         */
        for (i = 0; i < val_count; i++) {
            ret = _regmap_read(map, reg + regmap_get_offset(map, i),
                       &v);
            if (ret != 0)
                goto out;

            map->format.format_val(val + (i * val_bytes), v, 0);
        }
    }

Hrm, and you can't just make raw read work because other users are
relying on the native endianness for single reads so bulk_read() then
for the actual I/O? At a bare minimum you need to provide comments in
the code explaining what's going on, at the minute it looks like
something that needs cleaning up.
