I'm a bit puzzled. So ID is managed by extcon-usb-gpio driver and VBUS is managed by this driver. The implementation is such that the extcon-usb-gpio only updates the role to the core driver based on ID pin state and the Mode valid bit is set by the wrapper based on the VBUS state.
