Add a function to push the contents of a BVEC-, KVEC- or XARRAY-type
iterator into a symmetric hash algorithm.

UBUF- and IOBUF-type iterators are not supported on the assumption that
either we're doing buffered I/O, in which case we won't see them, or we're
doing direct I/O, in which case the iterator will have been extracted into
a BVEC-type iterator higher up.

There is no such thing as a symmetric hash. You're using shash
which stands for synchronous hash.

In any case, as I said in the previous review this is abusing the
shash API. Please use ahash instead.

Thanks,

Sorry, you're right.

It's already abusing the shash API, this doesn't change that, except where it
gets the data from.

I can have a go at conversion to ahash, but that will have to be a separate
patch set as it isn't trivial. The problem is that the current code just
assumes it can push bits into the hash as it gets them - this is not possible
with ahash.

Oh OK. All I saw was this one patch which added shash code.
Were you also deleting shash code in another patch that wasn't
cc'ed to me?

Cheers,

No, I don't want to change it this late into the dev cycle. I can look at it
after the merge window.
