They make entries look like arrays; but mostly, if we keep them, we're forcing every consumer to trim them on their side before being able to reuse the value.

For my part I don't know if this printf(" ") is really necessary - I'd rather avoid spaces at the end of lines, but then there would be several other locations to update.
