Because this driver will support multiple configurations for software,
the software configuration was made generic.

Applied to the togreg branch of iio.git and pushed out as testing for
the autobuilders to play with it.

As with patch 1, I've backed this out for now as it doesn't make sense
with the later.  For reference please add.
