From: Allison Henderson <allison.henderson@oracle.com>

This patch adds a new functions to check for the existence of an
attribute. Subroutines are also added to handle the cases of leaf
blocks, nodes or shortform. Common code that appears in existing attr
add and remove functions have been factored out to help reduce the
appearance of duplicated code. We will need these routines later for
delayed attributes since delayed operations cannot return error codes.

Don't we need this initialization?

Uh... a predicate returns an xfs_da_state object?

/me starts to wonder if these hasname functions ought to be some sort of
lookup function that returns the appropriate context for inserting a new
xattr entry if ENOATTR; a NULL context if EEXIST; or some other error if
something actually went wrong...?

Granted I have this funny feeling that most of the attr code works on
the principle that we're supposed to pass ENOATTR/EEXIST from lower
layers to higher layers, which makes me unsure if it makes more sense to
stop abusing those magic error codes (and therefore having to switch()
on every error return) or not.

I dunno, I also had questions that I attached to the previous version of
this patch, so... <shrug>

I don't think so, it's set for use in the below xfs_attr3_leaf_read, but
that line has been moved. It's now over in xfs_attr_leaf_hasname.
Initially I had the args->blkno = 0 assignment there too, but people
thought it looked out of place and asked to remove it and just pass a
hard 0 to the xfs_attr3_leaf_read call.

It's actually used in the remove path rather than the set path. It
looks like its used to reattach buffers after a commit has released
them. It's also one of the variables I need to stash in the delay
context because it needs to persist across the transaction rolls.

Yes, initially I think they were coded on that principal, but it's one
we have to avoid with this new approach for the reasons I explained in
the last email concerning the .finish_item callback.

Yes, I hope I was able to answer those in the last email? Let me know
if you need more clarification. Thanks! :-)
