That may be the case. But what we put in the shared_info page and in the vcpu_info is time keeping information which KVM has done for guests — from the kernel — for a very long time.

Again, you could make the argument that some of this stuff *could* be done — albeit less efficiently — form userspace.

But again, that ship sailed years ago.
