In some hardware designs these methods might be useful for drivers to call to configure the platform properly for the hardware's expected behavior. This series introduces two new symbols as API that drivers can call if necessary. In the Microsoft Windows ecosystem, Microsoft offers a similar API wrapping these functions for device drivers to utilize.
