Use the device lifecycle managed allocation function. This helps prevent
mistakes like freeing out of order in cleanup functions and forgetting to
free on error paths.

I have applied patches 1, 2, 8 and 9 of this set.  Bjorn handles the QCOM
peripherals and will take care of the remaining ones.
