BTW, this info should be under "---" line so that it doesn't get stored
to the actual commit log.

Different maintainers have different opinions, there is no one answer, but if Steven is okay to have this in the commit log so am I. So no need to change anything.

Return type of wait_for_completion_timeout is unsigned long not int. As time_left is exclusively used for wait_for_completion_timeout here its type is simply changed to unsigned long.
